Grants will be awarded to State energy offices and Indian Tribes to establish a “high efficiency electric home rebate program”, which will provide rebates to eligible entities and their qualified electrification projects

Grant allocator: Department of Energy

Eligible recipients: Low- or moderate-income household (a household with a total annual income less that 150% of the median income in which the entity resides); an individual or entity that owns a multifamily building where 50% or more of the residents are low- or moderate-income; governmental, commercial, or non-profit entities carrying out qualified electrification projects on behalf of the eligible recipients listed above

High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act (HEEHRA)

Allows households to deduct from their taxes up to 30% of the cost of upgrades to their homes, including but not limited to installing heat pumps, breaker boxes, insulation, windows, water heaters. Improvements to, or replacement of, a panelboard, sub-panelboard, branch circuits, or feeders can qualify.

Grant allocator: Internal Revenue Service

Eligible projects: Any improvement to, or replacement of, a panelboard, sub-panelboard, branch circuits, or feeders which is installed in a manner consistent with the National Electric Code, has a load capacity of not less than 200 amps and is installed in conjunction with any qualified energy efficiency improvement or any other qualified energy project

S25C and 25D of the Inflation Reduction Act

Extends and expands residential energy efficient property credit, now Residential Clean Energy Credit

Grant allocator: Internal Revenue Service

Elibile projects: Credit is commonly used for residential solar projects. Applicable expenditures include qualified solar electric property, solar water heating property, small wind energy, geothermal heat pump, biomass fuel property, and extends credit to battery storage technology starting in 2023.
